E Komo Mai West O'ahu!
The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Festival at Ka Makana Ali'i will be presented on February 16, 2019, from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M. The program will be held at the center's stage and featured performances by Next Generation (keiki) steel guitar players Pono Fernandez (13), Joey Misailidis (13), and Malie Lyman (14), and Hawaiian steel guitar masters Alan Akaka, Jeff Au Hoy, Bobby Ingano, and Greg Sardinha. This festival will be presented free to the public by Hawaii Institute for Music Enrichment and Learning Experiences (HIMELE) in association with the Ke Kula Mele Hawai'i School of Hawaiian Music. This program was supported in part by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts through appropriations from the Legislature of the State of Hawaii and by the National Endowment for the Arts.
