Meet artists Kaili Chun and Lori Uyehara at this free, informal presentation in the Hawaii State Art Museum galleries! There will be time to chat and mingle after the artist presentations, and a wine/beer bar on the ground floor by the HiSAM Museum Gallery Shop. Museum galleries on the second floor will be open. Admission is always free. Kaili Chun is a sculptor and installation artist based in Hawaii.Her works address ideas of containment and exposure, agency and restraint. She often constructs narratives through symbols and objects that address the impact of historical events on the present day. Lori was born and raised in Hawaii. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Professional Diploma in Secondary Art Education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. After teaching art in the public school system for nearly 10 years she decided to pursue artistic endeavors fulltime. She participates in solo, group, and juried exhibitions in the U.S.A. and abroad. Her work in mixed media fiber, acrylic, ceramics, and wood are represented in the collections of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, The Honolulu Museum of Art, and in private collections in the USA and abroad.
