October 2018: Laurel Nakanishi-Salinas. Through her work as a writer and educator, she has lived in Montana, Nicaragua, and Japan. Laurel is the author of the award-winning poetry book "Ashore" and the chapbook "Mānoa|Makai." She teaches at the University of Hawaii-Manoa and Hawaii State Department of Education schools.
